Notable & Proud At Last: Michelle Obama

"Hope is making a comeback and, let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change [i.e. Obama].” — Michelle Obama, speech in Milwaukee, February 18, 2008

Imagine how few Americans would feel proud of their country if pride were conditioned on becoming First Lady.

Michelle Obama lives the American Dream while greedily cutting off for herself a piece of the American Nightmare, which she has never lived either as a woman or as a black.

I think they call that "fronting" nowadays.

Michelle Obama sorely disappointed us. With all the powerful issues she could have addressed,She talk only about hope, and futures, and pretty words that didn't address any of our economic issues, environmental issues, the housing market, the Iraq War...nothing.

She repeated the words, "See, because," over and over and over and over again. Between every other sentence, it seemed, in between stories - stories like one about a little girl at a barber shop that Michelle made cry for no apparent reason.

Doesn’t Michelle know that because her husband is a presidential candidate, and now the Democratic front runner, she has to be very, very careful when she makes comments.
Previously Obama wasn’t saying anything with sustenance, now I understand why. By the way, I am a ‘liberal’, Cuban-American male.

Excuse me? A female, African-American, Princeton-and-Harvard-educated attorney, who has achieved a great deal in her life, who lived through the Civil Rights revolution (and was the daughter of a Chicago city worker who really experienced those events), and who is married to an African-American man who is a U.S. Senator, has never been proud of her country before?

Putting that aside for a moment, what is it that we've suddenly done to -- finally -- make her proud now? Allow her husband to enter a primary that he hasn't even won yet?

Let me get this straight: a couple of ultra-successful, Ivy League-educated, wealthy, elitist liberals who have never been proud of their country want all of us little people to vote for them to be our PRESIDENT and FIRST LADY?

They want to represent a people, and govern a country, that has never, once, ever in their adult lives made them proud?

Wow.

The American Nightmare is going to be unleashed on this country if that man is elected. If they are not proud of the country that is giving them the -undeserved- opportunity to become president and first lady, then they do not deserve anything at all.
They seem to be very successful leeches.
They should go back and resume their previously anonymous lives, for the good of the country....
It's not what your country can do for you, it's what you can do for your country, I bet that it sounds very vague to them.

As the old saying goes:
"Beware of rubber heads bearing gifts"
I just substituted Greeks for rubber heads.
Thank you, but no thank you. You can keep your "regalitos" and put them under your Christmas tree.

Fantomas,
so you finally came out of the closet and decipher the mystery! As I said, you tried to fools us into thinking you are a closet Republican, but in everyone of your posts and comments you keep cheering for Obama. You are free to do so because we live (so far) ina democracy, but your cheering for Che Obama, show us where your head is at. And don't count your chickens before they hatch, the elections have not taken place yet. Wait until Novemeber to open your champagna and celebrate with the Obama supporters. By the way, you are in good company because Obama is also the candidate of the demented and senile tyrant of Cuba and all his followers. Coincidence? I think not.
