Reflection on Fidel Castro's Death

Some day, after he is dead, we shall look back with some appreciation at the fact that we got to see Fidel "die" so many times before he actually did.

In life, he suffered all the deaths of a coward; and in death, he shall suffer all the deaths of a traitor. May the Bible and Dante be right.

Fantomas,
I saw the supposedly picture of Manuel you placed in your blog. You are already breaking the rules by mocking him in your blog. Is that how you are going to gain his trust and goodwill for your request that he appears on your blog talk radio show? If I was in his place I would turn down your request for an appearence. I think you stoopped a little low to gain commenters. But that is you and I doubt if you will ever change. Where is the new kindler and gentler Fantomas? Gone in the wake of hurricane Dean?

Agustín:

I have also seen the fake photograph which fantomas claims is a true depiction of me; it resembles an old Woodie Guthrie (if he had lived to be that old). In truth, though my best days are behind me, my appearance is worthy of my prose and eminently distinguished.

I believe, however, that he posted the photograph before I agreed to appear on his show if he could behave himself here for one week. I could give his one demerit for having left the picture up after we had arrived at out agreement, but buoyed by the news of Castro's possible death, I am going to excuse the lapse this time; but please keep me informed, Agustín, of any other lapses which you may encounter, as I shall deal more harshly with him if there is a reoccurrence.

the new and improved Fantomas more merrier, more kinder, more gentler than before

better comport overall

Fantomas,
It may como as a surprise to you but I doubt very seriously Manuel needs any safeguarding or protection from me, since he seems to be very capable of defending himself quite well, thank you. His incisive and mordant humor can slice through his cyber enemies faster than a knife through butter. I have found out just that after reading his postings for the last several months here and in other places in the blogsphere. And if you don't believe me, just ask Mambo Watch who often crosses swords with him, to cite just one example. He can hit very hard with his written word without ever having to lift one finger of his hand to smite his enemies.
In my comment I noted that I believe your intentions were laced with more than a pinch of mockery. I still hold that opinion. I am sure Manuel takes better care of his hair than what you protrayed in his phony picture. But the underlining mockery in the picture on your blog, reeks of the portrayal of the "nutty professor" image you so often try to project when you refer to him. What is next for the rest of us? May I suggest a Kool Aid jar with a smile and a cigar dangling from its lips, when you decide to place my own picture on your blog. It will suit me just fine. LOL.

I thank you for your kind words, which I appreciate greatly. I only wish that my avowed enemies had your powers of perception, for then, perhaps, they would be able to join us in the merriment, which, though at their expense, is nonetheless intended for their improvement. The ones among them whom I respect the are those wise enough to remain silent. There is much wisdom in prudent silence. The foolish ones continue to insist on crossing swords with me, always to their detriment. Perhaps they are relying on the law of averages to tip in their favor. Fond fond and self-deception.

I agree. I do see "better comport overall." How gladly men will do the right thing when they expect to be rewarded for it! The virtue, of course, belongs to men who do the right thing without any expectation of reward.

will you ever work for a living without getting paid?

fantomas:

I just finished listening to your blog radio show and must say I was surprised to find you perfectly sensible and nothing at at all like the persona you cultivate here. I was impressed by your sincerity and passion on the question of Cuba. This is not the fantomas I know. I don't know whether to be pleased or not. I had hoped to engage the fantomas familiar to us all here. The other fantomas does not seem to require my wisdom or orientation and can do well enough without them.

P.S.: BTW, the radio Fantomas has a Puerto Rican accent. Nothing wrong with that, but still it took me aback, for I know many Cubans that have lived 40 years or more in Puerto Rico and never lost their Cuban accent.

Manuel recuerda hay accion para cada ocasion. Ese fantomas que tu escuchastes por la radio es el real

el que hace esto sin compromiso and without getting paid by the CIA

el fantomas que da los rounds por los blogs is a very combative fantomas que no tiene mercy para sus enemigos or amigos alike

Which fantomas do you prefer?

Fantomas said...

only 20 Manny not 40, ademas no soy habanero y no hablo mal

Manuel:
