The difference is that Val, Henry and George are merely content to gloat at Rick's misfortune (as they have done in several venues but not on their own blog). Perhaps this is all that they can do. I, on the other hand, have sought to bring resolution and closure to this matter.

Yes, that's him. He was sent a termination notice by the Chief and resigned before it took effect to protect his (considerable) benefits.
