BUCL Is Killing Babalú

Val is fiddling while Rome burns.

BUCL is killing Babalú.

Please note that not one single comment is ever left on any post which Babalú dedicates to BUCL. It is as if it were the vómito negro. No one wants any part of it. They want it to go away and show their disdain for it by ignoring it altogether. In fact, as I've pointed out before, the Babalú commenters are deserting the sinking ship. For a blog that once claimed 2000-3000 daily visits, it is an ominous sign when even its most successful posts amount to no more than 13 comments.

Val & Company have placed all their eggs in the BUCL basket while Babalú pays the price. I do not know how much longer it can continue to pay that price.

Why don't you open up your site meter for inspection so we can compare your traffic to the "dying" Babalú?

Because that information — which, incidentally, I pay for — does not concern a third-party and certainly not the enemy.

If I were to make it public, though, the biggest surprise would be that this blog is a second home to all the BUCLers, who seem to enjoy mightily seeing their bosses get bloodied here every day.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason.

If you are suggesting that Babalú has more readers than RCAB, I will gladly grant you that. I have never claimed otherwise. After all, we've been around for not quite 4 months and they have been around for four years.

What I was comparing was the number of comments left on both sites. For a readership of 3000, they have very few commenters and these leave very few comments. In fact, most of their posts lately have "O" comments. There must be an explanation for this and the only one I can come up with is that its readers are fed up with their arrogance, censorship, bannings and deletions. Not to mention their "edicts" on what subjects are off-limits.

Only a turn towards democracy and humility can save Babalú from itself. I certainly can't do it by myself.

I have just received an e-mail from someone who knows Val personally and remarks that the resemblance between Val and Nero's bust is uncanny. I've always believed that physical characteristics are not so much inherited as deserved (remember Dorian Gray). Therefore it does not strike me as a coincidence that Val and Nero share the same visage. They are both exemplars of capriciousness and self-indulgence: Nero on a grander scale simply because of certain advantages of birth.
