2 For 2

I think it is fair to say that BUCL's Campaign II has proven an even greater failure than its predecessor (if that is even possible). With their silence Sting and The Police have rebuffed them and sided with the oppressors of the Cuban people. No amount of begging on the part of the BUCLers persuaded their British idols that Castro is deserving of their condemnation. Don't they know what these characters are: Marxists by proxy.

Having already failed in their ridiculous attempt to bring the Spaniards to their knees, and unable even to convince a Castro-worshipping Sting to get off his knees, it may be time for Henry to get off his ass and put an end once and for good to this travesty. If he quits now, I promise not to hound him about it to his last day (or mine).

My advice to the BUCLers:

Think.

Reconsider.

Desist.

See you at the DGI meeting. Your highness is doing a splendid job

How very mistaken you are! I have nothing to fear from my "rivals" because they happen to be my friends. My rivals are blogs like my own which exhibit the same unbiased commitment to the truth, and it makes absolutely no difference to me whether they are more popular because the truth is one however many may be its purveyors, and it is the truth which I want to prevail.

The blogs to which you allude are not my rivals. We are not in competition because we sell different wares. Those as yourself who take your views and intolerance from them cannot rival this blog in any way. All that you can aspire to be is antagonists who can be disposed of with a fly swatter since all you can ever aspire to be is a nuissance, never a threat.

Then there is the question of intelligence. But I don't think we have to go into that.

Why do you even try, Val? The giveaway is your reference to me as "Your Highness," which sounds a lot like your previous title for me ("Your Superiorness"). Actually, I prefer "Your Superiorness" since whatever advantage I enjoy over you is not hereditary but the result of having read more than you and assimilated what I've read. It is still my sincere hope that you will make a date some day with a book, preferably about Cuban history, and supply whatever deficiencies you feel you have in respect to me.

Whether "Mr. Gomez" sleeps soundly or not is no concern of mine. I should think, however, that our lumbersome friend sleeps well.

As for seeing you at the next DGI meeting, I don't attend DGI meetings, but if you will kindly provide me with the address where you meet, I should be happy to attend your next meeting and report on the proceedings as well as reveal the identities of the participants.

I would be frankly surprised if the DGI had recruited you. Your actions already play into their hands by discrediting the exile community and there is no need to tap you as a source or "asset."

The reason that I consider the 2nd Campaign to have been an even greater failure than the 1st is that the 1st Campaign consisted solely of placing three stickers in the New York subway and a few more within 13 blocks of Spain's Miami consulate, whereas more planning and capital was expended on the 2nd campaign with even more humiliating results.

But I think I know what you mean. The 2nd Campaign virtually self-destructed whereas I had to kick the corpse of the 1st several times before they admitted defeat and moved on. I know and I greatly appreciate that you enjoy seeing me kick it, and for an aficionada of my kicking, the 1st Campaign was definitely the more exciting one even if the 2nd was the greater failure.

Manuel,
In my opinion, if they had done some research on the Police, they would have found them wanting.
Andy Summers himself was seen running around with a copy of "History will absolve me" in his hand frantically waiting in line for the Invisible One to sign it. I imagine after that orgasmic moment, he went back to his hotel room and sat there in deep contemplation of his idol signature as in a rapture for hours.
Waiting for a condemnation of the regime in Cuba from Sting, is like waiting for pie in the sky. If this was Pinochet's regime or South Africa's Botha, they will jump at the chance and actually may even perform a concert for free to raise funds, but this is Cuba and Fidel is an icon to the London crowd of leftists so I would not hold my breath. As I always say, one cannot expect to get peaches from an elm tree. To condemn the Cuban Communist regime would have gone against all they hold sacred. Their idelogical shell is impervious to our cries for help or a word of condemnation.

Saludos.

Lechero is it true that Manuel vill become 91 years old this summer?

Anonymous said...

No, that's a lie. He's in his 50s.

Anonymous said...

Actually he's 47.

The first time he read Jose Marti's Simple Verses, Manuel Tellechea was about 5 years old.
But, as the 38-year-old writer from Union City, N.J., puts it, he ``knew even then that to commune with superior beings one must ascend to their heights.'' So he clambered up a ladder in the garage of his childhood home in Havana to read a book containing Marti's Versos sencillos, published in 1891. He scanned the neat quatrains of eight-syllable lines,...

fantomas:

Yes, I read the "Versos sencillos" when I was five; began my translation of them when I was 13; and completed it at age 38. You are assuming that I published the book immediately upon completing it. Maybe the writer of the article (who interviewed me by phone) assumed the same thing in calculating my age.

I shall do nothing to dispel or confirm anything. Let my age be disputed as Celia Cruz's was.

On Canadian and Australian forums, entire threads have been devoted to "proving" that I am not Cuban because they claim that no one with my command of the English language can possibly be Cuban.

On day, I suppose, seven cities will be claiming my birth, too.

Manuel,
You must be doing something right, otherwise your enemies would have ignored you by now.
They seem to be fascinated by the issue of your age. That subject does not let them get any sleep.
You would think that with some many other important things to spend their time and efforts, they could come up with something new.
I remember a quote from Mae West when someone pointed out some people where saying mean things about her.
"Honey, as long as they talk about me, whether is good or bad I don't care. Is when they don't talk about me at all, that I worry". LOL.

Enrique,

Hubo demasiadas pausas y mucha repeticiones de “you know, you know” esto o lo otro.

Recuerden la prensa internacional y holywood estan EMBOBADOS Y ENCANTADOS POR LAS MARAVILLAS Y LOS LOGROS DE LA REVOLUCION CUBANA Y CON ESO TENEMOS QUE LIDIAR LO MEJORCITO QUE PODAMOS

pregunatle a robert redford, a danny glover, a belafonte y comparsa

Fantomas,
A campaign to raise awareness with Barbara Streisand will not go anywhere either because she is one of those castro-loving leftits also. She is probably very good friends with Steven Spielberg and you know what he said when he went to Cuba and met with the Invisible One.
"I have spent the best hours of my life during those 4 hours I talked with Fidel" Mind you, not when his children were born or when he got married, but when he met this tyrant and chatted all night with him!! This was the best time of his life. What does that tell you about this idiot?
Using "the Police" for a vehicle is useless and you might as well be on foot! THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT US!! We are not a left wing issue to arouse their ideology to battle, therefore we don't exist. Is that simple.
Maybe you guy at BUCL should start a campaign with the Estefans, Andy Garcia and others like them, to speak up loud and clear about our problems and our plight. Not in silent conversations with others in the entertainment media but with everyone they know and share their time. But they need to do it loud and clear and in public for all the media to see, without any strings attached. After all Gloria and her husband and Andy Garcia have enough money for the rest of their lives to withstand any backlash that may result from them speaking up on behalf of Cubans. They don't need to fear anything from the show business crowd. Right? Is about time they open their mouths in public and let something else besides happy music and singing come out of them.

Fantomas said...

No doubt. You would boycott everybody but Gloria Estefan.

I dont have a problem with gloria at all..Todos cometemos errores but overall she has always being inclined to denounce the tiranny. If Iam not mistaken she offered a free concert food and supplies to our cuban brothers in guantanamo bay por citar un ejemplo i thhink in 1994 balseros

I am ready

agustin...

Sir, I don't have a blog, but I'm considering starting one called Review of the Review of Cuban-American Blogs

It's only slightly more clumsy than the name of this one.

Sharpshooter said...

Fantomas,
that would be wonderful if they do it. Gloria and Andy have enough clout to be able to speak in public and be noticed by the Main Stream Media in the US. If of all them start a public campaign for the prisoners they will gather enough steam from other entertainers such as Paquito D'Rivera, Sandoval, who knows maybe vene Cameron Diaz and others. But so far only Willy Chirino and Celia have done that and spoke publicly for us. Bless their soul. I know Gloria has done some things but in her position she can do much more than what she has done so far. Heck, Emilio Estefan is a Sony executive for God's sake, he can get people to listen to him and make enough waves to raise some eyebrows in the media. But so far, silence.

Henry owes you much (does any man owe another more?). Heck, you were even the one who identified Andy Summers at the restaurant and ushered Henry to him.

But, I'm sorry to tell you, the picture that you are using of the milkman is not a true one. I do have your real picture and may even be persuaded to use it if the occasion ever arises.

Do you have to insult and denigrate Manuel's and his family for the pure pleasure of it and for free? Can you carry on a conversation without having to result to using such insults? What the hell is it with you that when the going gets hot or when we do not agree with you, you immediately use insulting words, such as those listed above? You are stepping way over the line. And let's not forget calling us termites in the same commentary. You know someone on his blog has said that you need psychogical help and I am staring to believe they were right. For someone to use insulting words to refute an opponent, is a sure sign that his argument is very weak. From where I stand, I see you resorting to these tactics more and more daily. You may want to check yourself and do some introspection and find out what makes you do these stupid things and maybe take out some time to correct them. It will make you a better person in the long run.

I continue to tell you that by insults you are not going to make any friends, and yet you continue to call me a lunatic, proving my point everytime you post a commentary.
Can you tell me what personal satisfaction you derived from insulting Manuel or his family? What were you trying to prove by that?
As someone much older than you may I point out that these comments reflect on you more than those at whom you aim those words. Is that very difficult to see or comprehend?
