Christmas Posts

This Christmas cartoon of the 1960s, ostensibly a biography of Santa Claus, is one of the most potent indictments of Communism ever put on film. Its villain is the most fully-realized representation of Fidel Castro in the history of cinema.

Can you name it?

I have even searched the internet but alas am unable to find the one you refer to.

Am off now to celebrate with family and friends Merry Christmas my friend, Merry Christmas to all! and to all a good night.

Hint: the feature-length cartoon tells the story of why Santa Claus now comes but once a year when formerly he came all 365.

  9. Vana:

Hint: In the cartoon a local despot abolishes the observance of Christmas in his town and declares Santa an outlaw.

And, unlike the Grinch, he is never redeemed.

They say that a thieve sleeps with only one eye shut, because he thinks everyone will steal from them, and so he judges others by his own criminal behavior. This is the case with Rubber Head. Because he has so many different abnormal personalities, all of them rotten to the core, he thinks everyone act just like he does.
Santa Claus needed to bring a whole year's supply of Thorazine for Rubber Head, but I guess he skipped his house and bypassed him. I can say I don't blame him.

  11. Manuel, thanks for fixing the glitch that made the jpg invisible to those of us who refuse to use Internet Explorer Browser from Microsucks, anyway, if you look at your site meter you can confirm that it has taken me about ten minutes to verify my findings, which are here. Question is, am I correct? Please elaborate on the character reference as you described it, I don't remember it at all, gotta watch ABC Family and get the DVD which contains the complete version as per the referring data.

Did Angel guess correctly? is that the one, Santa Claus is Coming to Town? it has been years and years since I saw it.

  13. Congratulations to Angel for successfully guessing that Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1970) is the little (or big) screen's most accurate depiction of Fidel Castro!

  15. Thanks Manuel and Vana, but I cheated in order to find it, I won't tell you how I cheated, but the fact is that I did, I have never been a fan of the stop motion style of cartoons, I learned to detest them back in Cuba, when the muñequitos rusos (That's Russian Cartoons for those of you who don't understand Spanish) were forced-fed unto Cubans via TV and cinema, the bolsa negra was our means of acquiring American cartoons such as the Looney Tunes and Disney collections, Ruskies couldn't or wouldn't come close to the quality and appeal of the US material, and the message was always the same (The US imperialist and capitalist pigs are all evil, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, communism is good, blah, blah, blah, blah) not only did they instill that utter dislike of the genre, they also turned me into a pyromaniac, but I told you that story already, my friends and me had lots of fun burning the commie stages and billboards, harassing the Soviet and Czech "technicians" was a bundle of joy, the Greek sailors were our best and most loyal friends in providing us with the materials we needed to take care of the "technicians'" homes which had actually been expropriated from their rightful owners.

Angel, when did you leave Cuba?

  17. Read my profile anonymous, most of it is there. The Ruskies never caught us, even when we went to steal Coy fish from a swimming pool that they and the G2 were using as a local "secret" house of ops in the Vista Alegre neighborhood of Santiago, we almost got away with the fish, but, a miliciana came to the patio from the kitchen and saw the five of us so we had to fly out of there, which we had already planned ahead of time in case we had to flee, all of us split into five directions and even though one of the Ruskies came close, he didn't catch me, he couldn't jump a fence that was cake for me, I was scared shitless because we did that eight days before I was to leave Cuba, one of my friends panicked because he got home about fifteen minutes before I did, so he went to my house and told my parents what we had done, as he was leaving I showed up and got a beating and a loud lecture from my mom, later that day my father took me aside and said to me that although what we had done was kind of crazy, it was nevertheless something that made him laugh and also made him proud not only of me, but also of my friends, screw the Ruskies.
