Babalú's #1 Friend

It had to happen eventually, sooner than later: Val has run out of alliteration for the imbecilic questions which he poses to his readers on a regular basis (with an occasional assist from Alberto de la Cruz, who has proved himself a fast unlearner). Today's question is entitled "A Wednesday Query." After this month's "Wednesday Wondering," Val had to declare defeat or postpone his question for another more synonym-rich day. Or he could have used the one remaining alternative which escaped his attention: "A Wednesday Wonderment." Having then exhausted all synonyms for "query" beginning with a "w," he should in future consider describing the nature of the question rather than harping on the self-evident fact that it is a question. Thus: "A Wednesday Waggery," "A Wednesday Wisecrack," "A Wednesday Witlessness."

Let this be my reply to those who feel that I have a personal animus towards Val. Despite Babalú's degradation of the Cuban people and desecration of the Cuban flag, I continue to hope for its reform and contribute what I can towards it. An anonymous commenter said recently that RCAB is "Babalú's #1 satellite." He was wrong in the sense that he meant: RCAB is no satrapy of Babalú. It is, however, the most active agent for its regeneration. Just criticism is always to be preferred to unmerited praise. Flatterers do us no service and may actually harm us by creating in us an unjust estimation of ourselves. The well-informed and well-intended critic, by pointing to our errors and suggesting what should be done to correct them, is also our wellwisher. It would be no exaggeration, then, to say that RCAB is Babalu's #1 friend in the Cuban-American blogosphere.

Boo hoo....Fantomas.Get a life man, its a blog. Some people just have no concept of managing their time nor their life...lol. addiction is a strange feeling, right enrique? You're obsessive over Manuel's blog everyday you click refresh button to see, if the article changed. (hilarious) Though I read Manuel's blog regulary and mostly agree with the stuff written here, I have to say I really enjoy it but is not that serious, Fantomas...Do you sleep with your laptop on your bed?lol...know where you draw the line..As with anything theres ALWAYS Obsessive and abusers.. unfortuantly peole are often too shortsighted to blame their own actions for the resulting consequences.Self control goes a long way.Having multiple personalities is not a normal human behavior.Unfortuantly, you're to dense to comprehend this situation..Don't get me wrong I don't care about your bullshit but you make this blog look like shit. You spend every free moment writing shit on this blog, bogus shit.

  8. anonymous @ 10:56:

I have reviewed other blogs in the past, including Abajofidel (fantomas' blog). It is true that Babalú occupies most of my attention. With few exceptions, its satellites have all but abandoned their own blogs in order to contribute to Val's (which is exactly what Val intended). The other Cuban blogs rarely stumble as conspicuously or as frequently as does Babalú. If it appears that I pay too much attention to Babalú, it is only because the need is greatest there.

You are welcome, however, to suggest any blog that you think I should review.

Who will be the next blogger to merit Val's retaliation? I think we all know the most likely candidate at this moment is fantomas, BUCL's ambassador to RCAB. The quirky fantomas, who is always proclaiming here that he is his own man and beholden to no one (especially Val Prieto), has not been as active in Val's defense as Val no doubt expects and has even opened a cordial dialogue with "Ya no más" being by nature an includer rather than an excluder. This diversionist tendency does not sit well with Val and will surely lead to fantomas' expulsion from BUCL and Babalú's blogroll. The fact that I have mentioned this may actually save fantomas from expulsion from Val & Co. because such is the power that I have over Val & Henry that I have merely to suggest something for them to do the exact opposite. If I were a dime store Machiavellian like Val I could use this power on my own behalf but I prefer to use it on their behalf, which is yet another way in which Val Prieto and I are different and our positions irreconcilable.

The best way for Babalú to "deal" with RCAB is to follow its advice to the letter. When Babalú ceases to be an anti-Cuban blog, I will be able to become the reviewer-at-large which everybody wants me to be.

While your suggestion appears to be genuinely comical Fantomas, perhaps you are not aware that most, although not all of the time, calls to the BRH are not answered by the hosts, sometimes this is due to the limited time alloted to the program, other times perhaps because the topics being addressed so engage the participants that they may neglect to pick up calls on time and the callers simply hang up, but there is also a selective practice wherein certain calls from specific area codes and exchanges a.k.a. prefixes, (the first three numbers of a telephone designator proceeding the area code) are purposely not answered, I do not think that any call originating from Northern NJ would be answered, as they know that Manuel and me reside within that area, but I could be wrong.

Manuel more than likely would agree with me when I say that a candid, respectful and honest dialogue would be a welcomed event as far as I am concerned, God knows that there is much that Babalu and RCAB have in common, not the least of which is our common enemy. What say you?

It riles me that I am the world's leading expert on them. Still I push myself because the harm that men do is rarely proportionate to their innate abilities. In fact, it is the most inconsequential men that have caused the greatest harm to mankind. That thought alone sustains me in this distasteful and thankless task.
