The Rise and Fall of the United States: The Final Chapter?

The greatest charlatan in the history of American politics stands posed on the threshhold of the White House. Between Barack Obama and the end of American democracy stand Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Hillary is as inexperienced and nearly as beholden to left-wing interests as Obama and she carries the worst imaginable baggage in the world (Bill). Still, she is so venal that it is doubtful she would ever topple the system that nurtured her. She would leave the presidency discredited, as did her husband; but the stronger for having survived her calamitous tenure. If Obama is elected, it is doubtful that the presidency as we know it will survive him. At least he will do everything in his power to make sure that it doesn't.

Obama differs, first and foremost, from Hillary in that he is a crackpot, while she is eminently practical and bereft of all illusions, cynical almost. By crackpot I mean, of course, that Obama is the spirit child of Jeremiah Wright. The reverend's skewered worldview is also Obama's, his belief that America is an agent of evil in the world that must be humbled is also shared by Obama, his willingness to appease America's enemies and his hostility to its allies, is also derived from Wright. Obama's politics revolve around Wright's teachings as the earth does around the sun. He has spent 20 years reflecting those beliefs before audiences receptive to them. Had Wright not exposed himself for what he was and left absolutely no room for maneuvering around him, Obama might even have selected him to offer the prayer at his inauguration.

Political platitudes, meaningless diatribes about indescript dreams a la Walt Disney, are the means Obama employs to conceal his real agenda. If he didn't believe that the American public would recoil at his thinking he would not endeavor camouflage it under popularist rhetoric which hints at everything but commits to nothing. If his message were safe for Americans to hear he would have no difficulty enunciating it. But the Wright debacle convinced Obama, or, rather, confirmed Obama in the belief, that the less Americans know about him and his associations, the better. Wright, of course, is not the worst of it. The reverend is merely a purveyor of hate, a divider, a despicable cheerleader of vicarious revolution, and, of course, Obama's mentor and spiritual guide. There are other longtime Obama supporters and sponsors to whom he is beholden not merely for ideas but for the means to advance rapidly in a career without acquiring any distinction in it. Thanks to them the senator with the least seniority and least distinguished record, who, in his 3 years in the Senate, has scrupulously avoided voting on any controversial issues while still managing to compile a 100% rating as a liberal, is going to be the nominee of the party whose last victory was obtained by running away from everything that the Democrats have stood for in the last 75 years.

That someone of his ideological purity, a socialist by any definition, has managed to challenge and nearly overthrow the political heir of that last victory, shows that the radicals within the Democratic party are taking it back with a vengeance. It is not that he they have co-opted Obama, but, rather, nurtured him from the first day of his political career. And, of course, we don't just mean just the limousine liberals, but the liberals behind the barricades, exemplified by the Weather Underground and other terrorist or quasi-terrortist organizations, soaked in Communist ideology, whose aim then and now is the overthrow of democracy in America and the imposition of a Castro-style dictatorship.

Obama's first act as president will be to redeem the debt which all radicals owe to Fidel Castro for fomenting unrest and supporting terrorism in this country for nearly 50 years. It is the mission of Barack Obama, one of the few things to which he has actually committed himself. His willingness to talk to Raúl Castro, or, even, to be drivelled upon by Fidel, is too great an obsession in him to be denied. By offering to negotiate with the Castro regime without prior conditions he has, in effect, not only validated every horror that Fidel Castro has perpetrated on the Cuban people in the last half-century but given the green light to any and all predations that Raúl might inflict on them between now and the time that Obama sits down to talk to him. As Obama exchanges pleasantries with Raúl, his henchmen could be torturing a political prisoner in the next room and it would make absolutely no difference to this moral apostate who asks nothing of tyrants but their hospitality.

Of course, Barack Obama is not yet president. There is one more hurdle that he must overcome. In the final battle against McCain, he will be seconded by the MSM, which have favored him in the race against Hillary but have not let their hand show until the very last days of the primary season. From the party conventions to the election, their bias will know no restraint and offer no apology. It would really be hopeless except for the fact that Obama's appeal is greatest in Democratic constituencies within predominantly Republican states. In the contest with Hillary he has lost all of the big states which he would have to carry in November in order to win the presidency. It is hard to imagine any coalition of states which he could assemble that would get him over the electoral vote hump. Obama will be a greater unifying force for Republicans than for Democrats (27% of whom affirm that they will not vote for Obama if he is their party's candidate). Bush's disastrous presidency and McCain's diluted conservative credentials will mean nothing when the prospect of an Obama presidency looms as the alternative.

  1. LOL Mat, you reach back into the 19990's and peddle how bad that decade was for Americans. Then you go straight to 2008, and talk about how bad the Democratic president will be, even though he/she has yet to take office.

But mat, your forgot something in your complaints.

You forgot the worst president in modern united states history. The Cuban-Americans greatest hero, George W. Bush. I will never know why the Cuban-Americans voted "twice" for this Betty Ford's school of ex-drunkards.

Cuban-Americans, including yourself lost a lot of credibility and respect around the world, because of your worship of George W. Bush.

Too bad too, as Cuban-Americans will always be known as George W. Bush's toliet paper. Used once, and flushed like excrement!!

  2. MAT, I think you forgot to call Walt Disney a racist. Or a self-hating hispanic. Or something.

Please, catch your breath and try again.

BTW, will you be endorsing anyone before the election?

  3. This is when we must make a distinction between Miamians and Cuban/Americans in general. I know it is not easy since to the world in general Miami represents Cuban/Americans, but you are perpetuating a fallacy. What was true 40 years ago, because they had the power and the money. That myth is just not true today. Yes Cuban/American in Miami (the old guard) cling to that sense of entitlement they enjoyed during the heyday of " El año que viene en Cuba"
Since they did absolutely shit to achieve that goal, the future generations (including those living in Miami) have gradually stepped away from the almost tyranical hold these first wavers held on the rest of the Cuban/American population.

But they are LOUD, still come up with ridiculous strategies as to how to keep Elian in the USA, and their emotional, extremely perturbing exposure to the MSM, sealed the destiny of that child.

The party celebrating Castro's death is just another stupidity embraced by a minority of Cuban/Americans in Miami, but that got the news.

I can guarantee you that the majority of Cuban/Americans in Miami have taken very opposite views and those who have dared disagree with the geriatric group and their offsprings have time and time again been accused of airing "dirty lundry

Cuban/Americans in Miami do not crown a president of the USA. You need to be exposed to all of those Cuban/Americans spread through the USA and the world before you come up with sweeping and capricious conclusions.
The link between Miami being the mouthpiece of Cuban/Americans in exile was lost right after Giron and the betrayal of Kennedy which was way too easily forgiven by the Miamians of the time in fact giving the traitor the most blatant symbol of his betrayal.

Do some research as to what portion of Cuban/Americans are sticking by Bush you will find that the majority blog on the Beer & Pot rag.

  4. Nonee,

That is one thing i like about mat. He isnt a self-loathing Cuban, he is proud of his heritage, his family, and his nation. Unlike Hernry Gomez, and Val Prieto, would do nothing but distance themselves from their Cuban brethan, or deliberately hurt the cause of a free Cuba.

Where Mat falls, and loses some credibility, is being an apologist to people who 1) hate him (Trancredo and Newt) 2) discards him (bush). Which may to a certain degree be considered self-loathing by some.

Nevertheless, it is understandable why Mat must destroy all things Democrat. As a Democratic Party will not return the island of Cuba, to the those Cuban exiles who fled.

Rather, a Demcratic Party will return the Cuban island, to the Cubans who remained and struggled against communist. Which to some Cuban Batista-type ruling exiles, is a worse scenario than Fidel himself. As they know they cannot undo a Democratic Cuba.

For the millionth time, I was never a supporter of George Bush. I have attacked him consistently throughout his presidency for the very reasons that you would have supported him: his embrace of Clinton's "Wet Foot/Dry Foot" policy, which he has upheld longer than Clinton did; and for allowing his own party to gut the embargo in search of illusory profits.

Cuban-Americans got nothing from Bush but lip-servive while he did his upmost to maintain the status quo in Cuba in order to avoid having to face the consequences of America's actions there over a half-century.

"Let the next guy" handle it" was his mantra. "The next guy" may well "handle it" by recognizing the Castro regime and handing him the keys to the U.S. Treasury.

So do not include me in any of your fulminations against "Cuban-Americans."

Wrong, most Cubans in Miami boast how they foisted Bush upon the world. The Miami Cubans said they would punish the world over the return of Elian. And the Miami Cubans did punish the world. The Miami Cubans also said, that they never wanted the world to forget what they did. And the world will never forget what the Miaimi Cubans did!!

  10. mat said about bush: Cuban-Americans got nothing from Bush but lip-servive

No, no, no Mat, if Cuban-Americans "only" got lip-service from Bush that would be the least of the damage that Bush has heaped upon the Cuban-American community.

No sir, Cuban-Americans sacrificed their word, their reputation, and indeed their respect around the world in their efforts of 2000 to get Bush in office. And to ensure that America, and the world was punished for Elian.

Indeed, the damage to the Cuban-American is unmeasurable, and will have a lasting effect for generations of Cuban-Americans!!

Feel free to test my theory, go to "any" nation. And simple say to the first local, "yes i am Cuban-American and i voted for Bush." Be safe in the notion, that the local's response will not be a pleasant one.

Then you will be able to discern the true destruction that Bush has dumped upon the people that were always loyal to him, the Cuban-Americans!!

  11. anonymous @ 9:40AM:

The fact is that the "Old Guard" was right about Elián. Everything that they warned would happen to Elián in Cuba has indeed happened to him.

The MSM's hatred for Cuban exiles and the cause of Cuban freedom is one of its longest-running obsessions. Now it takes the form of moral equivalence, as if the acts of individuals in a heterogenous community (which you yourself acknowledge the Cuban-American community to be) could be equated to the acts of a regime that speaks with one voice.

Over the last 49 years, the Castro regime has murdered more than 104,000 Cubans. How many Cubans have the exiles murdered, imprisoned or exiled?

Nor do I regard Babalú as a spokesman for the "Old Guard." I certainly doubt very much that the "Old Guard" would chose Val Prieto or Henry Gómez as their spokesmen. One has to know at least a little bit about Cuban history to understand the "Old Guard" and Val & Henry still need to read a lot before they become even neophytes on the subject.

  13. mat,

If you have distance yourself from those that hate you, because of your Spanish heritage, like Newt and Trancredo, then my sincere apologies.

It is not often, however, that i read that a Cuban-American has condemn those "republicans" that hate him. On the contrary, the Cuban-American often votes for and celebrate them. Thinking that their vote will somehow give them a free pass from the anti-Spanish backlash in America. Perhaps, that was true in the past. But not in this anti-Spanish frenzied climate, which the Republicans have brought the Spanish immigrant.

Mat, I would like to see how you would vote in my local Indiana elections. As nearly all the republican party members are "really" KKK types, who are much, much worse than Trancredo and Newt.

Actually, there wouldnt be a choice for you in Indiana. As your R does not get you an exemption, nor does it get you a free Cuba. On the contrary, you get the Tom Trancredo, and then you get his boot in your ass for being Spanish!!

That is Indiana, and that is your anti-Spanish republican party. And that is your future, and not Rev. Wright.

When Obama, said, "typical white people," got it right. It is typical of my people, especially here in Indiana. And there is one thing i know for sure, a bigot doesnt like to be called a bigot. Except of course, in Indiana, where being a bigot is a badge of honor that is to be proudly displayed.

Unfortunately, in the coming years, the Spanish immigrant will have to find this out the hard way. Especially, the Cuban-Americans, who seems to think that they are exempt from the anti-Spanish backlash that the republican party is fanning in America.

    Good luck!!

Unlike Mat, I knew Indiana would be close. Mat deceptively tried to argue that Obama was a black racist who hated whites. Well, at least up in Indiana we know who the real racist are. As many Indiana natives are bitter racist themselves. And "all" of my racist friends and family members always said that Obama was not a racist. And nearly all agree that Obama would be a much better president, than George W. Bush. But will not vote for him because of the fear of a Spanish vice president in Richardson. Note: all would quickly vote for "black" Collin Powell if he would have run for President.

It is unfortunate that a bright man like Mat may actually fool himself as to think Obama will lose to Mccain in a landslide, based on Rev. Wright.

  39. Mat,

My racist republican family is fairly typical of Indiana, as Obama would say. Unfortunely Mat, you would find very little common ground with them, other than the same political affiliation.

In fact, i suspect that you would feel more comfortable with the non-racist liberals in Indiana, the few that exist. Rather, then your republican brethen, that tend to have hatred for anything that is different. And this is particuarly true of the Spanish immigrant. Especially Spanish immigrants who have taken over an American city like Miami.

Nevertheless, i have no doubt that you would quickly and proudly caste a vote for any and all of my family members if they ran for elective office. If for no other reason, then they wear an R on their chest.

But i must say, as an ex-liberal, i am proud that Obama battled through this most racist republican state, and made a respectable showing to the world.

I think it is so funny that Obama has shut up my racist republican father. Even i get tired of the hyped-up, dangerous racist republican rhetoric 24/7.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Can anyone tell us what the rumors are and who started them?

  41. Wow, let me say this for now based on some comments:

Bla bla bla, Cubans around the US are very different from those in Miami. Yes, we are not immersed in Cubanismo like the brothers and sisters in Miami, but we are united (>99%) in our revulsion for the castristas. Heck, we may be more united in this than people in Miami.

Someone is always trying to put Cuban-Americans strictly into Democrat or Republican camps. We vote on how a candidate identifies with our experience - and for almost all of us in this country, it is one that is anti-castrista.

As for the "historicos", never forget that some of them did have the courage to actually do something - at Giron.

My question for Obama: In this country there is no statute of limitations for murder. Do you think that Cuban-Americans (e.g., "historicos") should forget about their family members who were killed without due process? Should they just "get over it" since it has been 40 years?

However, every other word about Cubans is stereotype and hyperbole. You keep accusing MaT and others on the blog of being Bushies and they never were. How many times can they explain that to you. Methinks you are struggling with your own prejudices and it's pretty transparent. Your anger towards Cuban Americans could be considered as "racist" as what your family in Indiana feels about the hispanics.

I like Varela's writing even better than I like his cartoons, and I like his cartoons a lot.

But all that he writes about adolescent angst in all age groups in this country would be exacerbated, not improved, by the election of another middle-aged adolescent like Obama.

America needs a grown-up as president. We haven't had one of those since Reagan. Like LBJ before him, they come around every 20 years or so to fix the mess left by the Kennedys, Carters, and Bushes.

America needs John McCain. It has never needed an adult president more.

  60. vana:

I should have warned you and Ms. Calabaza long ago that John does not go through the stages of evolution quickly.

Once upon a time, however, he was much worse than he is today. My efforts and those of others at MCS at least convinced him to stop defending Fidel as a means of attacking Cuban exiles.

I do not know if it will ever be possible for him to stop scapegoating Cuban-Americans for anything and everything that goes wrong in this country.

His usefulness lies in the fact that he gives us a peek into the thinking of other Johns who are more reticent to make their real opinions known though no less virulent on that account.

When i used to tell my family that. They would laugh in my face and call me a liberal. In Indiana, most people get called liberal if they dare to speak out against the anti-Spanish bigotry by republicans!!

The other Johns are available for viewing at: Foxnews, CNN conservatives, Rush Limbaugh, or basically where you find a gathering of three or more red state republicans!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. fulano de cal:

I could not agree more with you. It is time that Cuban-Americans stop behaving as if there were only one political party in this country. If we made our support contingent on actual results rather than empty promises, there would be no "Wet Foot/Dry Foot" policy in place today.

Of course, Obama is a special case. There is no compromising or bartering with him because he is the pet of all our enemies.

    ReplyDelete
  65. John:

You forget to mention your alter ego Lou Dobbs.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Mat i said, CNN conservatives, which includes Lou Dobbs. I find it ironic how Cuban-Americans always complained about the lack of conservative voices on CNN.

LOL, then CNN begins to bring in conservative voices like Dobbs, and Glenn Beck, and now the Cuban-Americans complain that CNN is anti-Spanish.

One day you Cuban-Americans will realize that being a true red state conservative means being anti-Spanish immigrant. For some Cuban-Americans, they find being anti-Spanish immigrant very easy. Even if it requires self-hatred!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. John:

It is only to be expected that CNN would recruit "conservative" commentators who are also anti-Hispanic. Their goal, of course, is to make conservatives look bad even while ostensibly becoming more receptive to their views.

  68. mat, if i recall you chose not to become an american ciitizen, now you are criticizing americans for possbile choosing a president that's not your liking.

Whether mccain or obama it will be the will of the american voter.

  69. Mat,

No sir, CNN is just trying to keep up with the competition like "conservative" Foxnews, which is decidely anti-Spanish immigrant. As directed by the Republican National Committee!!

I have never been so misunderstood by someone up until now. I am not a bigot, and i have never admitted to being one.

As per your request in regards to my racist republican family. It is very difficult to make inroads against bigotry when you used to be a liberal. Hence, my tolerance often falls on deaf ears.

Perhaps, republican Cubans would have better luck with extracting the anti-spanish bigotry from their souls. After all, you do have at least "one" thing in common with my family, i.e., being republicans!!

That is something for which I will never be "grateful."

I do know what is in the best interests of the Cuban people because I happen to be one of them. And, of course, I am closer to their enemies here, and so, I am in a better position to warn them.

Do you know what's in the best interests of the American people? You seem to think that you do.

    ReplyDelete
  102. mat,

I wouldnt profess to tell my countrymen who their enemy is. As that strikes me as narrow-minded communist group think.

My concern is Obama's open immigration policy. However, i would not be arrogrant enough to argue this makes Obama the enemy of America.

On the contrary, the different school of thoughts is what has made America the beacon of freedom throughout the world!!
