Ah, what fantastical creatures the media can conjure from thin air! Now there are "lawmakers" in Cuba where there is no law, only the caprices of Doña Lina's sons.
Well, the "lawmakers" of Cuba's one-party police state have given the nod to Raúl as all the world (except Cuba) waited with bated breath for the white smoke to signal, "Habemus tyrannus!"
Let the pigeons loose!

ReplyDeleteI'm afraid the people have eaten the pigeons.

The people of Cuba have suffered too much and for too long. They deserve so much more than what they have today.
ReplyDeleteIn the land of Jose Marti, there is no liberty.
Some of the greatest freedoms one enjoys in the U.S. are freedom of speech, freedom of movement, and freedom of not being arrested or detained without being charged with a crime. Then, if one is arrested and charged with a crime, then one is given the opportunity to prove oneself innocent of the charges before a legal system composed of an “objective” Court. Court with attorneys representing each side along with a judge. In Cuba, there is no Court, and there's only the government's position.
In Cuba, ninety miles from U.S. shores, the government has the right to incarcerate anyone for any reason the government wants. There is no freedom of speech, so one cannot talk against the government in any way. There are no free newspapers except the government issued paper, Granma, which only writes articles based on what they want the island residents to think irrespective of the truth and with no other viewpoints.
Raúl's not going to do anything now that would jeopardize his own interests.

The hypocrisy also comes out when their friends and family get caught.
Likely 2008 presidential candidate John McCain, R-Ariz., has advocated tougher drug laws, but in the early 1990s, his wife, Cindy, stole Percocet and Vicodin from a charity. She was not prosecuted. Percocet and Vicodin are Schedule II drugs, in the same legal category as opium. Each pill theft carries a penalty of one year in prison and a monetary fine. But Mrs. McCain entered a pretrial diversion program and escaped without a criminal record.
Pill-popping junkie..

ReplyDeleteI would welcome "Cold War, Part II" if it would do for Cuba what "Cold War, Part I" did for Eastern Europe.
An Obama presidency would signify "Detente, Part II" which would do for Communist Cuba what "Detente, Part I" did for Red China.

ReplyDeleteI should much prefer a First Lady who popped pills (we've had those before) than a president who's used marihuana, cocaine or crack.
Is John "One Foot in the Coffin" McCain a suitable person to be President?
ReplyDeleteNo!! No he is not!! He represents a continuation of the Bush years, no transitioned required is what he represents!!
McCain, should also be held for accountable for the millions of Americans that suffered as a result of the savings and loan scandal that he skated on, in that millions of Americans lost their entire life savings.
You need to change you brand of koolaid. John McCain is not moral, is not ethical, is not trustworthy, is not a uniter, he is not a conservative (at least by my definition), in not exciting, he however the following:
ReplyDeleteHe Is A Hothead
He Is A Washington Insider Aristocrat
He Is A Democrat
He Is A Liberal
We need a Steady and Strong President for this great, beautiful & strong country....so, who is suitable?
anonymous:
ReplyDeleteA continuation of the Bush years, unsatisfactory as that would be, is still preferable to the inauguration of a Marxist era in the U.S.
Actually,Manuel I hate both Obama and McCain....Go Hillary hahaha just kiddin..a little sense of humor. "We’re doomed!"
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think you’re perhaps reading too much into that comment.
John McCain is so old his birth certificate is expired.
I see Fantomas is still cheering for Chebama. And now even calls him the "chosen one". But he says he is a closet Republican. Will wonders ever cease!
ReplyDeleteNepotism and favoritism in Cuba? I'm so surprised . . .
