The Babalunians and I were never "friends" but at one time we were friendly. It was they who severed their relations with me, when Val, as you may recall, booted me from Babalú for criticizing the Estefans, the same people who, four months later, he allows to be called "traitors" on his blog. I would be foolish indeed if I ever resumed relations with someone so volatile and inconsistent, as inevitably, we would come to the same juncture again.
As you rightly observe, I use humor as my weapon against them; they are not really good for much else. The day I engage in an intellectual debate with Val Prieto is the day I will confine myself to The Madhouse.
And, btw, they are called Babalunians here, not Babalusians.
There is now a vast Archive at RCAB and I invite you to plumb its riches. You missed a lot in two weeks.
Manuel, I visited Mambo's Watch blog and I read your intelectual sparring with him with amusement. I recently enjoyed your answer to his posting about Professor De la Cova. I hope he takes him on and De la Cova answers him. He is got a good thrashing coming to him. I am looking forward to that spectacle.
This is not a "poll;" this is a joke. When they did the lobotomy did they also take out your funny bone?
Even someone as stupid as your typical Babalunian should be able to see this. Would you vote for Babalú and acclaim it a "satanic" blog at the same time? Well, you probably did.
Moreover, I don't stuff ballot boxes as the rest of you do. My famed Posada poll, posted in the first days of this blog, garnered 40 votes and it actually required the voter to take a stand on him.
Anonymus at 12:44 pm, since you think the site is a joke, perhaps you will honor us with your name and a simple opinion on how to improve it or maybe you can suggest to Manuel how to improve it. But if you are only brave enough to criticize from the shadows, your opinion should not even be taking into consideration. No one that I know of, has ever been banned from expressing an opinion here, so you don't have to be afraid of the repercussions. Unless you are one of the members of Babalu and are afraid of being recognized as one of them. Well, show us the money!
Anonymus at 09:34am your language and syntax betrays you.
"there is no grow on this site"
You can come out now Fantomas, you have been made.
You are quite right: the entire Babalunian tribe and its related clans converge here everyday en masse. I think that they don't visit one another's sites more frequently than they visit mine. The minor players come here hoping that I've mentioned them for that's how they gauge whether they've "made it" or no. Val & Henry, who despite 4 months of continuous attention, can't seem to get enough, are probably the most frequent visitors. Fantomas, who despite being an idiot without a trace of savant, is also the only one of them with the balls to make his presence known here, is practically logged-in continuously: you would think I were talking from Mt. Sinai so anxious is he not to miss a single word.
It is my hope, at least, that the Babalunian hordes will learn something here — anything, although I know I may be too optimistic in my expectations.
Be careful, fantomas, I have given you a lot of leeway today; do not make me regret it; your ticket to The Madhouse is always stamped and never expires. And if Mambo becomes a greater nuissance he may join you there. I don't know if he can replace "che-che," but I think he'll give it the old college try anyway.
Nice poll Manuel, I voted
ReplyDeleteManuel,
ReplyDeleteI just returned from 2 weeks out of town and read some of your posts...I haven't laughed this much in a long time!
I have a greater appreciation for you the more that I read.
I still read babalu, but with a different outlook.
Do you think that you and the Babalusians will ever be friends?
Manuel , there are other Cuban A blogs far informative and far superior than the above mention blogs
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted to measure the blogs weight you should have included for example
Penultimos Dias
Contactocuba
Cubanology
Abajofidel
those are just a few examples ...
food for thought

ReplyDeleteThere are many excellent Cuban blogs. In fact, I read all of them, good and bad, and encourage everyone to do likewise.
