Do you enjoy flogging a dead horse?
And in your christian faith what happen to the idea of not judging others?
I wonder how your enemies are going to treat you the day you fall from your moral high ground.

And exactly what is wrong with morality? Should we condone immorality to show that we are good Christians? What Bible have you been reading?
I don't have to "forgive" Oscar Corral because he has not done anything to me. His wife, children and parents need to forgive him. The teenage girl that he contracted for sex needs to forgive him (and all the others that came before her). Even his employer needs to forgive him for the discredit this "company man" has brought on his company (although it really boggles the mind that anyone could discredit The Miami Herald).
You may forgive him yourself if you feel he has betrayed your expectations. I don't.

ReplyDeletefantoma i ask questions i don't attack anybody
ReplyDeleteCorgiguy:
ReplyDeleteCan a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbor's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent...
Whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Old Testament: Proverbs, vi, 27-33
To everyone,
ReplyDeleteI have been out of the loop for a few days traveling and suddenly I find all of these wonderful news. Oscar Corral got caught with a prostitute and was arrested? Gee, all I can say is:
it could not happen to a nicer guy!
I hope they throw the book at him. He is a vile individual who takes inmense pleasure in defiling and defaming others. Then now, he should swallow hard, bite his lip and take his own medicine with a pinch of sugar. What was that about those who have a glass roof should not throw stones? I call this latest incident with Mr. Corral, a little bit of poetic justice.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever committed adultery? Have you ever felt lust ?
Have you ever fallen into temptation?
Don tell me you are the holy one!

ReplyDeleteWelcome back! you had me worried, glad to see all is well with you and yours
Corgiguy
ReplyDeleteYeah the sinners are way more fun to hang with...LOL..
corgiguy:
ReplyDeleteFirst you quote God and now you quote Billy Joel. Your authorities are very eclectic, to say the least.
You would like to have Oscar as a friend? He can't be much fun. On Friday nights he's busy picking up whores. Unless that's your bag of tricks, too, what the hell would you do with such a friend?
Manny are you trying to ignore Fanto?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that you never answer any of his valid questions..
dont b rude

ReplyDeleteThe scripture i quoted had to do with judging others. I don't know oscar, what i see is fallen a man, no different than you and me after all we are sinners aren't we? and we can fall into temptation cant't we? Tell me You never fallen for the snare of a pretty lady?
I think what billy joel is saying is that sinners are bit more real to him than those that pretend not be sinners and take the moral high ground and call themselves saints.
Corgiguy,
ReplyDeleteif ever there was a guy who deserved to be outed for what he is, that person has got to be Corral. He is only getting now some of his own medicine in return. What he did to those reporters at the Herald was beyond the paleand unforgivable, specially in light of the fact that Granma had just published the same story only a week before I think if my memory serves me right. I don't think that was just pure coincidence and something stinks to high heaven there. So now he got caught with his hand in the till,(or maybe somewhere else)so I think he just got what was coming to him and I for one, am not surprised. I don't have a very high opinion of him, and I believe is a case of divine justice if you want to call it that.
Agustin
ReplyDeleteI'm not defending oscar, like i said he is fallen man and life will deal with him accordingly.
I'm questioning the idea of taking a moral high ground and using that to criticize another moral short commmings
corgiguy:
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, Oscar still has his job at The Miami Herald; he's still paying his bills and his mortgage on his half-million dollar house. His wife and his kids are still well-provided for and his employer is standing by him. What exactly are we suppose to pity him for? Because he offered $50 to a hooker to fellate him? I save my pity for more deserving people, such as the reporters whom he defamed and who lost their livelihoods for having done absolutely nothing wrong.
Well said Manuel, I feel nothing for Oscar, except contempt, he got his just reward, nothing he likes more than to bring people down, now is his turn, and yes our friend Corgiguy does have eclectic ideas, but he's ok
ReplyDeletemanuel
ReplyDeletei don't know how you get from asking questions to being eclectic, but that's ok, at least i was not called a pinko-commie.
Has oscar asked for you pity? Please spare him
Do you disagree with the biblical teachings of not judging others?
Should we have a public hanging and throw stones at him or maybe we can castrate him and then parade him around calle ocho?
Please have a patience with me i'm a lost soul a sinner, i know i can learn from you!
"Should we have a public hanging and throw stones at him or maybe we can castrate him and then parade him around calle ocho?" — corgiguy
ReplyDeleteFor a compassionate guy you certainly have unusual notions of justice.
If he's a lifelong habitue of prostitutes, you won't have to hang him or castrate him; and as for parading him down Calle Ocho, what exactly has he done to deserve a parade? As an object lesson, you mean? For whom? Young people today do not recourse to prostitutes for the satisfaction of their sexual needs.
manuel
ReplyDeleteYou always get me wrong, i know i'm eclectic, confused, a liberal and all that. Hey must be that california sunshine so bear with me i can learn from you.
I'm asking you a question. I'm not taken a position. Frankly i don't know the history of oscar and what he's done to deserve your condemnation, i get the sense he's done something big. i'm trying to understand your ideas and your sense of justice.
In your view what's the proper punishment for oscar? Is he reedemable? Or should we let life deal with him? Do you agree with the biblical teaching of not judging others?
Just simple questions
corgiguy:
ReplyDeleteWe all make judgments. Judgments are necessary to survive in life. The Bible does not tell that we should not make judgments. It is, in fact, all about making judgments; often swift, deliberate and even rash judgments.
God in the Bible smites individuals, cities, clans and entire nations because they do things that do not please Him. God as Judge is the central motiff of the Bible.
Whence then this "Do not judge, and you will not be judged?" Well, clearly it does not mean that God won't judge you, because He most assuredly will. Does it mean, then, that we should not judge one another? No, it doesn't mean that either. God invested man with autonomy and made him judge over the earth, and if man were prohibited from exercising that authority (that is, from making judgments), then chaos would reign on earth.
What God tells us in the Bible is something else: Judge not others unfairly lest you be judge fairly for it.
Since I have not judged Oscar Corral unfairly, I do not fear any judgment of myself on that account.
If you wish to learn the basis for my opinion of Oscar Corral, you need only enter his name in the Search Box and you will know almost everything I know about him and more than enough to form your own opinion.
Manuel
ReplyDeleteThe gospel of luke is in the new testatment.
What i get out of the passage ( luke 6;37 ) is this God will judge you the same way you judge others, we are to stop being critical of one another. We are not to look at another and think "I'm holier than thou".
Friend there's a bit of oscar in all of us, if you never fallen for the snare of pretty lady, what can i say, you are a better man than i.
cheers
corgiguy:
ReplyDeleteOscar did not fall "for the snare of a pretty lady." He fashioned his own snare to entrap himself.
Whether the lady was pretty or not, Oscar had done nothing to win her affections but offer her money. There is nothing in the least "romantic" about that. On the contrary, it is highly unromantic, sordid and mercantile.
manuel
ReplyDeleteneither you or i were there, to make that judgement. oscar will pay the price for what's he's done, his family, his co-workers, his community will take care of that, i think that's the poetic justice that agustin was talking about.
the pretty lady was just a metaphor for our weakness when it comes to the opposite sex.
anyway i feel like i'm flogging a dead horse, so'll stop
cheers
corgiguy:
ReplyDeleteOscar doesn't have a "weakness" for the opposite sex; it is his ineptitude with women and inability to remain in a committed relationship which his arrest spotlighted. The punishment for his foolhardiness is society's disdain and especially the disdain of women. It is unlikely that any other penalty will be extracted from him, so let him at least have that to teach him discretion and decorum, and perhaps even empathy, which is what he most needs.
This experience can either destroy him or redeem him. It is up to him to decide which.
