Notable & Quotable: The Root of the Problem
"The nation of Babalunia indeed is more important to the Babalunians than a free Cuba." — Vana

Babulu's selfish priority would in of itself be of no consequence, if it were merely contained within the boundaries of Babulu.
Unfortunately, Babulu is not satisfied with selfishness within its own confines.
Rather, Babulu often inflicts hurtful pain and suffering upon others in order to preserve the importance of Babulunia. Often at the expense of all others, including innocent Cubans still trapped on the island.
Babulu's willingness to hurt others is what distinguishes them for "all" other Southflorida blogs. Moreover, it also makes Babulu downright dangerous, controlled by sinister and uncaring "chivatos."
Anyone notice this comments disclaimer on Henry's new blog (http://cubanamericanpundits.blogspot.com/2006/11/comments-considerations.html)?
"Comments Policies
One of the best things about the web is the interactivity it provides. Because of comments there is a give and take between the authors and the readers, and that is refreshing. But it also has its drawbacks. Because the topics covered here may be polarizing and controversial it may attract cranks, Castro apologists, propagandists, "useful idiots" and regular idiots. Some readers may be well intentioned but don't realize that this is not their forum it's ours.
In previous incarnations of this site, we've been plagued by folks leaving comments that want to parse every single word, take offense to any perceived slight and refuse to accept clarifications or corrections to their assertions. The problem is that we don't have the time or the inclination to go the proverbial 15 rounds with these people.
If you disagree with the opinions expressed on this site and are not satisfied by the response the authors offer to your questions or comments, please do yourself and (more importantly) us a favor and just be satisfied with knowing in your heart that you are right. Go start your own site and say how much you disagree with us. That's fine. But understand that we have our own very subjective comments policies.
Some general guidelines about comments:
Anonymous comments are not accepted. It's too easy for the cranks too simply "hit and run". Disallowing anonymous comments has greatly reduced the amount of garbage that we receive.
Comments that mischaracterize statements made by the blog authors will not be published.
Comments that quote official Cuban government sources and try to pass them off as factual will not be published.
Comments that use Wikipedia as a source will not be published. If you can't take the time to get a primary source (as opposed to a message board posing as an encyclopedia) then don't bother. Factual inaccuracies can be found in even the most basic and non-controversial Wikipedia entries. Wikipedia is only slightly more reliable and factual than the Cuban government.
Comments that attack this site, its authors, or the friends of its authors will not be published. Self-explanatory.
Excessively long comments will not be published. If you can't keep it short and sweet, nobody will read it anyway.
A second set of comments to a post by readers who have previously commented on that post and had their comments addressed by the blog authors may or may not be published at our discretion. If the conversation is productive and progressing, in our opinion, they will be posted. If the comments are redundant and overly nit-picky (for the sake of creating a false controversy) they will not be published.
We have been accused of being against free speech, of being hypocrites because we moderate comments in this way. Well, if that's your opinion we're fine with it but we believe in your right to say whatever you want, you just can't say it here. We're not going to get into details of what the 1st Amendment does and does not say/do, except to say that you can rest assured that nobody is violating your rights to free speech when your comment is rejected.
The primary mission of this site is to provide a venue for our authors to express their opinions; as a result we always reserve the right to get in the last word. Comments are complementary to this site not vital to it.
You always have the option of emailing your comments if you want to have a serious discussion, off of the record. But understand this, there are some things you are never going to convince us of and there are some things we are never going to convince you of. So sometimes it's just better to nip easily detected hostile conversations in the bud."
Oh wow Manuel, I'm turning into a sage...LMAO, j/k..
Noting Henrys disclaimer gave me chuckle "in previous incarnations of this site"..lol..I didn't know Babalunia had been reborn, if it did, it surely was for the worst.
Your ability to synthesize in a few well-chosen words volumes and volumes of polemics is a joy to behold. That is why I have turned this recent comment of yours into a post.
No, my dear Vana, you are not turning into a sage. You have always been a sage.
A lot of comment rules for a site that doesn't even get any comments. It is doubtful whether Cuban American Pundits has received enough words -- not comments -- to equal the verbiage in its new Comments Policy. Of course, that is not just CAP's policy. It is and has always been Babalú's unwritten policy.
Henry help me out on this one. In your free-speech hating communist-lite "manifesto" you stated:
1) as a result we always reserve the right to get in the last word
But down here you refused to exercise one of your express commandments.

I'll take that as a no then, Mr. Gomez. Can't wait for the Obama-Castro-Chavez summit in Key Biscayne in 2010.Maybe Joe can play translator. Posted by Gusano at April 9, 2008 11:45 AM
It is rather odd, that Gusano got the last word in Babulu, "your" blog.
I think Gusano got the last word because Henry was left literally speechless. When one is as consistently wrongheaded as Henry, such moments are by no means rare. They do not attest, however, to a deferral on his part, but, rather, to his being KO'ed.
