So, what you are saying is that the critic is great and his subject is small and undeserving of his attention. We are agreed. But the critic is generous even if the subject is ungrateful and so his benefactions will continue.

I promised that I would disclose the number of visitors and page views that RCAB has received over the last year on the anniversary of its creation. I will never "open the Sitemeter" because that would betray the identities of those who visit this blog, many of whom wish to keep that information confidential for fear of reprisals from Babalú.

Yes, Theodore Roosevelt, the "doer of deeds," such as the Platt Amendment and the seizure of Guantánamo Naval Base.

Mind you that TR never says whether the doer does deeds that are worth doing, that benefit his country or humanity. What he admires is the "man of action" regardless of whether he acts as an agent for good or ill.

However, in token of my gratitude and admiration for you, I must second Vana's advice, which you know is pretty near infallible: you should consider starting your own blog. You are as talented and know as much about Cuba as any Cuban blogger. Most importantly, you know the right things and will not be led wrong through ignorance of our country's history or divided loyalties. This, I'm afraid, is the undoing of most younger Cuban bloggers, whose intentions may be good but who are wholly unequipped to carry them out and stumble more than they walk upright.

So, yes, Agustín, I would also encourage you to consider starting your own blog; and, remember, you always free to give it as much or as little time as you have at your disposal.

You are taking Roosevelt's quote out of context by applying to rcab. The critic that Roosevelt speaks of is the one who timidly sits by a scoffs at those courageous enough to act. This is not nessesarily so for every critic, and a critic of blog's is hardly more timid than then the one who blogs. In the end the Cuban Blogger is one who gather's information on Cuba, creates an understanding of this information from experience and truth, and transmits this information on the screen you read. Hopefully, this enriches all of us and makes us aware of our priorities.

There are cases where one loses sight of their own experience and truth, and there are blogs out there that fall by the wayside. In these cases the critic is necessary as prophet, not as one who is a soothsayer, but as one who intellectually sharpens his opponent --as iron sharpens iron.

Now, this is not to say that rcab is infallible. No, it errs as any human errs. However, when this site errs it is not found in what this site does (critquing), but rather how it does it (intellectually or sensationally).
