"I'm leaving for good this time, John. I mean it. There's no coming back, John. There will be no reconciliations, no explanations, no justifications." — George Moneo, "Dear John," Babalú, February 6, 2008
George Moneo has now proclaimed that he, too, cannot support John McCain as the Republican candidate and has done Henry one better and announced that he is leaving the Republican Party (for the second time). We suppose that this time he is actually leaving for good unless they can clone Reagan's DNA.
Val Prieto cannot be very happy at these desertions. He has not uttered one word, but inside he's dying. He knows that McCain can hold a grudge and won't soon forget the pile-on to which he was subjected at Val's blog. What will this mean? Well, no more invitations to the White House for Val, no more conference calls, no more Christmas cards from the Executive Office, nada.
Val has been booted.
POSTSCRIPT:
RCAB is reliably informed that Val Prieto was not actually invited to the White House but to the Executive Building next to the White House. Well, he won't be invited to the Executive Building either in a McCain White House.

On a completely different subject, Abbie Cuellar (former Assistant State Attorney, former Guardian Ad Litem Program Staff Attorney and all around great person) has filed to run for the Circuit Court seat currently held by Judge Jeri Beth Cohen. May the best candidate win!
Anonymous:
I am delighted to hear this news. The best candidate will be whoever defeats Judge Jeri Beth Cohen. I am very proud that the 20 or so posts I dedicated to her at RCAB pretty much define her on the internet.
So I guess McCain is driving the handful of republicans away from the party that remained after Bush drove the majority of the party away.
Carlos:
Southern Republicans may be running from McCain but not as fast as Southern Democrats are running towards him.
MAT, i don't the see what the conservatives issue is with mccain. Is it becuase he is not from the south or becuase he is not a bigot on immigration? I don't get it!
Here is my take on the aftermath of supertuesday.
I hate men who are not of their word, he quit the Republican party before and came back? please men don't say out loud what you don't really mean, makes George seem childish, or worse yet.....
George just reads Michelle Malkin and follows her lead. If you read her column every morning you can project where his mindset will be. George just wants everyone to consider him an intellectual. Ha-Ha! You can't be an intellectual with no independent thought. He is the master of pulling quotes and rewriting ideas as his own. What a bufoon. The last time George left the party so did a bunch of other fools and we got Clinton for 8 years. What bravado! Oh, and who the hell cares if he leaves the party?
Hey George, you gonna eat the rest of your fries?
Manuel:
Did you read the part where he claims that at 16 he was already jaded by politics...LMAO...jaded at 16, what utter bullshit.
vana,
don't you know he had the weight of the world on his shoulders at 16?
I loved that original line, "you sir, are no Ronald Reagan" - Brilliant!
Voters respond to McCain because he doesn't show contempt for citizens like Giuliani in New York or renounce positions as nakedly and crassly as Romney did when he announced his candidacy. As a gay man, let me remark: men obsessed with big cojones and showing them usually don't have a lot to be boastful about.

McCain didn't win one southern state. Electability my ass.

Hey Thin, fuck you and the pink Cadillac you rode in on.

Things just don't change at Babalu. If you don't agree, this is what happens. This is why that blog will never be taken seriously. Henry and George are pm-essing again.
Cuban Angst
Lmao...I tell ya there are a lot of characters in Babalunia,
cuban angst:
If everybody was Ronald Reagan, what would make Ronald Reagan special?
John McCain is the only shot the Republicans have at the presidency. The rest of the country is sick of the Wall Street "conservatives" and the rest of the country doesn't trust the Christian Fundamentalists.
John McCain is a real conservative and a real hawk, rather than a thief and a chicken hawk. He has my vote so far, unless he tries a little too hard to get support from those that didn't brung him and unless he offers Huck the vice-presidency.
As far as Cuba is concerned, he's not great, but he's head and shoulders above everyone else.
Rene, there's a real good chance he offers Huck the Veep spot. Huck has proven strongest in the South, and a southern strategy is mathematically necessary for R's to win general elections. If not Huck, you will see some other southern conservative. It's game strategy, after all. You cannot risk "conservatives" like George taking their ball and going home. The veep position is practicall a throwaway, anyhow. You make of it whatever you feel like, after you're President.
Nonee:
Maybe Mrs. George Wallace, former First Lady and governor in her own right of Alabama, will agree to be John McCain's running mate. That should placate the most unreconstructed Southern conservatives.
Or is she a Democrat?
Well, Hillary has no use for her. Just more of the same.
Noone, not so fast. Mac is 73, imagine him being disabled or somenthing and Huckster being the President. Yikes WTF !!!!
RCAB is reliably informed that Val Prieto was not actually invited to the White House but to the Executive Building next to the White House. Well, he won't be invited to the Executive Building either in a McCain White House
Your reliable sources are BAD. Our sources claim Val was admitted for a short period of time in the Executive White House Servants Room
He mingled with the Mexicans
Chechechea:
Did he have a bowl of Reagan's famous black bean soup? Is that still on the White House menu?
Corgi, that may be a concern for you, me and many others.
It is not, however, a concern for McCain.
Game theory.
noone, you are right about game theory. If huckster is the vp, that might be the final nail in the coffin for the gop, the evangelicals will be happy but the moderate gopers would be in an uproar.
mccain would do better picking a young southern governor like sanford from south carolina or christ from florida, that would be more appealing.
I think Sanford would be an excellent choice. Crist would be one more moderate, and may be overkill. Though getting him out of Florida is music to a few ears down here.
I disagree on "moderate flight" if Huckabee is the running mate. Throwing the baby out with the bath water is the province of the ultra-right...
NOONE, moderate flight? Well i can only tell you from friends here in california, most of them are moderate republicans. If Huckabee is in the ticket they will abandon the staright talk express and get on on the obama bus.
Huck looses him a whole bunch of independents and conservative democrats. If Obama is the Democratic candidate, McCain loses with Huck aboard. It is an issue, because of McCain's age as well. I don't want another president that thinks he has an even stronger direct line to God than Bush does.
I think McCain also understands game theory and as a poker player I'll tell you that after a certain level, game theory is a loser. That's why Big Blue can play chess, but not poker, which is a much closer microcosm of life than chess.
Rene, Noone, my theory is this in the general election the western states will be more of a factor than prior elections. The Huckster does not play well in the west, look at vote results in super tuesday.
Whoever is the candidate needs to appeal to the latino voters, the independents and the libertarian types and the anti iraq-war voters.
An Illegal Immigration is a big issue on the border states.
