Our good friend Charlie Bravo has written an excellent post on Emilio Estefan's recent attempt to reconnect with the Cuban exile community, which he offended in the "Escheban" affaire, by coming to the aid of some young balseros stranded in Mexico who didn't have airfare to the U.S. The proverbially tightfisted Emilio, who holds the penny while his wife pinches it, probably used some of his zillion bonus miles to pay for the publicity (I mean, the tickets). Perhaps he will make some new discovery among the rescued balseros. As I commented on Killcastro, I have no doubt that Emilio will capitalize on any young balsero's assets; but, under no circumstances, will he ever become a patron to any female who might some day rival his wife. He is at most a one-woman man and manager.

with Emilio it's always PR. He is a brilliant and ruthless business man. he has created his own Camelot story for Gloria and family. But remember, it's all about him.
Emilio is nothing more than a Cuban fake, who forgot his roots a long time ago, he's always in search of the limelight for himself and wife, in Killcastro's words Emilio is a prick.
"Can anyone of you guys sing? Play trumpet? Bang on some timbales? No? Bueno, hermanos, Mexico isn't so bad......aprendan a comer tacos and enchiladas instead of arroz con pollo and you'll be fine"...
